About the British Museum

Established in 1753, the British Museum is one of the oldest and largest museum collections in the world, growing exponentially since its beginning to now house over eight million works chronicling the history of humankind. The museum organises an annual exhibition itinerary which includes free exhibitions for the public and special exhibitions of its most treasured pieces.

Delegates can expect to encounter universally-renowned artefacts first-hand at the museum, some of which will be notable highlights of this guided tour. For those with an interest in ancient civilisations, the Ancient Egypt and Sudan collection and the Greek and Roman antiquities collection are sure to pique interest. The British Museum has an exhibition programme suitable for those more interested in contemporary cultures and perspectives as well, so you can rest assured that the tour will acquaint you with artefacts and curatorial questions regarding contemporary works in the collection. Some exhibitions of note which will be on display during your visit are new acquisitions of prints and drawings in “Drawing Attention: emerging artists in dialogue” and “Feminine Power: the divine to the demonic”, a travelling collection of artefacts spanning centuries and civilisations emphasising “the variety and ubiquity” of the divine female throughout the human existence”.
